Shipments On Temporary Import/Nil Carnet
Australian Customs Service working in line with international conventions permits boats to be imported into Australia on a “Temporary Import” basis. To enable us to clear the boats under bond on “Temporary Import” basis, please adhere to all instructions in this Shipping Manual.
For all boats, trailers & accessories, etc, where duty and sales tax are applicable a bond security has to be established. This can be arranged by cash deposit, bank guarantee or through Associated Customs and Forwarding Pty Ltd. Please note non-refundable bond fee will be for clients account.
A condition of this so-called “event status and/or section 162 clearance” is that the goods must be re-exported under customs supervision.

If your boat is sold and stays in Australia, Customs Duty of 5% and GST of 10% will be applicable.
