Hayama (葉山町 Hayama-machi) is a town located in Miura District, Kanagawa Prefecture, on central Honshū, Japan. As of June 2012, the town had an estimated population of 32,835 and a density of 1,920 per km². The total area was 17.06 km². Since 1894, the Japanese Imperial Family has maintained a residence in Hayama, the seaside Hayama Imperial Villa.
Hayama is located approximately 60km south of Tokyo and is well known as the “Town of Sail” for sea sports activities.The first yacht in Japan was built and sailed in Hayama. Many international and national regattas are held here throughout the year. Steady wind and a relatively moderate sea state welcomes sailors and promises great races.
